About Galway Girl

Thanks so much for stopping by! You may wonder (as people often ask me) why my blog is titled "Galway Girl."  I studied abroad in Galway, Ireland during the summer between my junior and senior years in college.  I (hesitantly) started this blog to record my adventures on the Emerald Isle and to keep friends and family up to date.  I had so much fun writing and sharing my pictures, that I decided to keep "Galway Girl" going when I returned home. I have considered changing the name of this blog, but just can't bring myself to do it. My inspiration initially came from Ireland and that is the way it is going to stay.

My blog, which is more like an online journal, is the perfect way for me to combine many of the things I am truly passionate about. I am an active twenty-something graduate student who loves food, photography, healthy living and adventures.  I cycle, run, practice yoga, lift weights and swim year-round and I found have a direct correlation between what I put into my body and how my body feels on a daily basis.   I try to eat a balanced diet and am on a quest to eat more whole grains, use unprocessed, all natural ingredients in an attempt to not only feel my best but fuel my body to perform well each and every day.  I believe that balance is key and indulging every once and a while is absolutely necessary! If you read some of my posts, it will become clear that I have a sweet tooth and bake often.  As of recent, I have been tweaking many recipes to make them more wholesome and often gluten free. I enjoy hearing from readers, so please feel free to leave comments and share your ideas with me!
