After class, a group of us wanted to go to Salthill and go swimming.
There is a rock with a pier/diving board and people jump off of it into the freezing cold Atlantic Ocean. When we arrived at the rock, we decided the water looked too shallow and we didn't jump. It was sunny and about 65 degrees, which is VERY nice for Galway. We spent the afternoon on the beach.
After dinner we went into town and stoped at some new pubs. At Taffes, there were two men playing music and they were awesome! We started dancing in the pub and the musicians loved that we were enjoying ourselves. A group of older French women got a kick out of our dancing and we asked them to join us. We had so much fun dancing to the pub music with these women. They all wanted to take pictures of us and we attempted to exchange a few French words. After Taffes, we went to the King's Head, and listened to another live band. It was two younger men and they played a few American songs. They thought it was funny when we requested American songs and played "You Shook Me All Night Long" in a country version...all to make fun of country music. I absolutely love that any pub on any night of the week has some sort of live music. It creates such a different atmosphere in the pubs than the bars have in America....I will truly miss the music and conversation found in the pubs when I return home!
